Professor James Coulson is a Professor in Clinical Pharmacology, Therapeutics & Toxicology at Cardiff University; an honorary Professor in Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology at Cardiff Metropolitan University and a Visiting Professor at the University of South Wales. He is an honorary consultant physician at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. Professor Coulson is the Clinical Director of the All Wales Therapeutics & Toxicology Centre and Chair of the New Medicines Group, an independent scientific advisory committee to the All Wales Medicines Strategy group. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh. Professor Coulson graduated with honours from the University of Wales, College of Medicine in 2002 after intercalated with a 1st class honours degree in pharmacology. He was awarded a doctorate of medicine in December 2011. He has over 15 years’ experience of drug-related studies in human participants, including early phase and late-phase studies.
